The challenge
Separated parents in high-conflict situations lose enormous energy to unstructured communication: missed handovers, disputed expenses, and conversations that escalate because there is no neutral record. Existing tools were either court-adjacent paperwork or generic chat apps; neither reduced the conflict itself.
The approach
Designed and built end to end by one operator: product strategy, interface, mobile build, backend, payments and launch. The design principle was calm by default. Every surface, from messaging to expense splits, is structured so the least inflammatory path is also the easiest one, and every interaction produces a clean, exportable record without either parent doing extra work.
The outcome
A shipping consumer product carried from zero to the app store by a single builder, rated 4.8 by the parents who rely on it. The deeper outcome is behavioural: structure absorbs the friction so the people can stay focused on the kids.
